Maple Tahini Chocolate Chip Cookies

Tis the season for cookie baking! But that doesn’t mean we have to be unhealthy in these endeavors…nor lacking richness or flavor! When the creamy flavor of tahini with its slightly nutty hints meets rich decadence of semisweet chocolate, there’s bound to be a party somewhere! If not a legit party, then definitely a party in your mouth!

So, I’m a huge tahini fan!  Tahini salad dressings, tahini for making hummus…but tahini cookies? But I’m not gonna lie, tahini didn’t go with cookies right away in my brain either. But listen here, tahini + dark chocolate…it’s heaven in your mouth, folks! Add in just the right amount of sweetness where youre taste buds aren’t overwhelmed, but the flavor is enhanced and THIS is the perfect treat for your next holiday get-together!

Super simple, as always, with only a few easy to find ingredients, you may even have everything you need right now to whip up a tasty batch of these met-in-your-mouth cookies. Careful though, if you’re planning on sharing these with friends you may want two batches because they go quick!

Did I mention these are gluten free? Gluten free oats and only a few tablespoons of all purpose gluten free flour make these cookies sit well for those sensitive to gluten. But shhhh, you wouldn’t even have known. No cardboard cookies here like so many of the store bought ones are! Be prepared for ooey gooey soft and chewy attacking your mouth.

Lets start. Mix together flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl. Next add eggs, tahini, maple syrup, and vanilla. Stir until well combined. Fold in chocolate chips. I had some semisweet chocolate chunks from Trader Joes that I roughly chopped down so they were a little more cookie friendly in size, but any semisweet chocolate will do. Next, on a parchment lined baking sheet, scoop out dough and plop down on sheet. Space the cookies about an inch to an inch and a half apart. Place on your preheated oven and bake for only 10 minutes! Just allow to cool before you share with friends or family. I guarantee people’s jaws will drop with this incredible flavorful cookie…well, actually lets hope they don’t drop…just keep chewing!
