And another avocado recipe today…this Chocolate Avocado Mug Cake, though, is definitely not your typical avocado recipe. Today we’re using the creamy texture of avocado to make a delicious and decadent tasting dessert with better-for-you ingredients!
No holding back today!
Like…avocado ALL. THE. WAY!
But not in your typical avocado toast sort of way. I’m talking rich chocolaty taste with each bite made with good-for-you ingredients.
You heard me! I’m loving this chocolate avocado mug cake as a decadent option that can be enjoyed any night of the week! It’s literally perfect and let me tell you why…
Ever craved a slice of chocolate cake on a Wednesday afternoon after a long day of work, just to celebrate getting over the hump of the week? But making a whole chocolate cake would, first of all, be way too time consuming for a mid week ordeal. But also, what are you to do with a WHOLE cake in the house! Answer solved…this chocolate avocado mug cake is a great mid-week pick me up that’s not going to leave you pawning off cake to the neighbors and people at work and the guy you’ve only spoken to once while walking the dog.
But also…this mug cake is made with better ingredients than your typical cake, or even typical mug cake! With healthy unsaturated fat from avocado which can lower cholesterol as well as provide a healthy form of satiation to keep you satisfied and full longer, you won’t find yourself over-eating as easily. Your skin, hair, and nails will also thank you by growing stronger and softer with the nutrients from the avocado!
Also in this recipe is coconut flour, making it naturally gluten free and easier to digest. You’ll also see that coconut sugar is used for sweetness, which is a great option for keeping the blood sugar more stable and tiding cravings. A little maple syrup is added for extra flavor, but still, a less refined option compared to regular white sugar. And lastly, rich cocoa powder because what girl doesn’t like chocolate! (actually I’ve met a few, but I just don’t get it!)
All you have to do to enjoy this quick treat is combine the ingredients in a bowl, divide into two mugs, and voila…two single desserts!

Avocado Chocolate Mug CakesPrint Recipe
- 2 ripe avocados, mashed
- 2 Tbs coconut flour
- 4 Tbs cocoa powder
- 2 Tbs coconut sugar
- 2 Tbs maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine avocado, coconut flour, cocoa, coconut sugar, maple syrup, and salt in a medium-sized bowl.
Mix until all combined.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Divide into two microwavable mugs.
Top with an additional couple of chocolate chips if desired.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
Divide recipe in half if only making one mug cake. Still just as good!
