It’s that time of the month and you’re cravings are going wild, your bloated, uncomfortable, and maybe a little more snippy than usual…don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. That’s why I’ve put together ingredients to help with PMS symptoms and combined them to make a delicious and satisfying cookie that anyone can enjoy!
We’ve all been there. It’s that time of month and you’re in dire need of something, anything, to calm the cramping, satisfy your chocolate craving, and keep your attitude in check! Well, good news for you…there’s certain foods that you can eat that will help you with those undesired PMS symptoms. And baked into a cookie!…who wouldn’t like that!
Here’s the ingredients and how they will help you feel your best!
Bananas: Bananas, as you may know, are high in potassium. Potassium, my friend, is amazing for decreasing and preventing cramps. Most women deal with some extent of cramping before and while they’re on their period…of course some more intense than others. But thanks to the potassium in bananas, and bananas in these cookies, you’ll experience some relief in the form of a delicious and chewy treat!
Almonds: Almonds are amazing for their content of magnesium and omega fats. Magnesium helps to regulate serotonin levels in your brain which can help lift your mood and prevent so much grouchiness during that time of the month. In addition to leveling your mood, magnesium is also beneficial for preventing water retention and therefore helps with bloating. I don’t know about you, but that’s one of my least favorite symptoms. And then, with their amazing omega fatty oils, almonds help regulate and promote a healthy reproductive cycle…check out more info on that HERE. Give me all the almonds, please!
Cocoa: Cocoa and dark chocolate are also beneficial for improving mood because, well duh…it’s chocolate! Just kidding, but actually there is science behind the reason so many of us crave chocolate when we’re PMSing or on our period. Just like almonds, chocolate contains magnesium that helps regulate mood, as well as has the property to decrease bloating. I’ll take that!
I’ll testify, these cookies really hit the spot when you’re in the need of some relief both mentally and physically during that time of the month! But, anyone would enjoy them…Paul kept asking for more! I didn’t tell him, though, that I was calling them PMS cookies, lol!

PMS CookiesPrint Recipe
- 3/4 cup white whole wheat flour
- 3 Tbs unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 1/4 cup desired sweetener (honey or maple syrup)
- 2 Tbs coconut oil, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup almonds, roughly chopped
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine dry ingredients (flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt) in large mixing bowl.
In a small mixing bowl, combine wet ingredients (mashed banana, sweetener, oil, and vanilla).
Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Next, stir in almonds.
Prepare your baking sheet by lining with parchment paper.
Scoop out 1/4 cup scoops of batter and plop onto baking sheet (this recipe will make 6 big cookies, or 8 small cookies)
Flatten cookies a little with the back of a spoon and then place in oven to bake for 12-14 minutes.
Allow to cool before enjoying!
